About Us
Northshore Agates was founded in late 2025 by Trevor Halliwill. He sought out spreading the joy that he found in agates and lapidary work to make a positive impact in the people's lives! Through Rockhounding, making rock creations, and polishing he sought to make people's lives better one rock at a time.
words from the founder:
Hey all, my name is Trevor Halliwill! I first fell in love with agates when I was very young. I used to go up to my grandfather's house in Brainerd MN who had a small agate collection that as a kid I was absolutely obsessed with. I would look through it for hours just mesmerized in his workshop not even fully understanding what I was looking at. Fast forward to 2022 my grandfather passed and I inherited that agate collection I was so mesmerized by as a kid. From there I bought a saw thinking I might cut a few of them (which I never did because, I was too nervous to mess up such sentimental stones) and soon after I got my Flat Lap. I wanted to find more so I could learn how to polish so I set out to do so and over the last few years I have self-collected quite a few and gotten very proficient in polishing (huge thank you to the Minnesota Mineral Club which was a huge part of my learning process, having all the experience of some of the members was a key part of me learning how to polish). This made me want to find a way to spread the joy and awesome connection I get to feel with my grandfather and others when I'm Rockhounding or doing Lapidary Work! By starting Northshore Agates Instagram page and eventually this site to offer some of my stones to others so they can enjoy them as much as I do! I hope I can make people's lives better one rock at a time!
